What You Can Do

1 . Speak out against anti-LGBTQ harassment and discrimination.

2 . Speak out against the use of anti-LGBTQ slurs.

3 . Stand up to people who display bias and prejudice: correct them when they’re wrong, and call them out when they’re blatantly disrespectful or inconsiderate.

4 . Read, learn about and discuss LGBTQ issues and the rights of LGBTQ students.

5 . Advocate for my school to adopt and enforce a nondiscrimination policy that includes sexual orientation and gender identity.

6 . Request books by LGBTQ authors and about LGBTQ people and issues for the school library.

7 . Be a role model for kindness and inclusion.

8 . Support your school’s Gay-Staright Alliance club or other groups that support students of the LGBTQ community.
